US political event will be decided by very few
Denmark News.Net Monday 13th October, 2008
Americans who are fascinated with John McCain and Barack Obama's struggle to win the presidency, may not have much to do with the final result on November 4th.
According to Fox News, the upcoming election will be decided by voters in only six or so closely divided battleground states.
The reason the vast majority of states won't matter in presidential elections stems from a winner-take-all rule.
This rule awards all of a state's electoral votes to the candidate who receives the most popular votes.
Consequently, presidential candidates have no reason to poll, visit, advertise, organize, or even pay attention to the concerns of states where they are comfortably ahead or hopelessly behind.
This harsh effect of the winner-take-all rule became clear in the first week of October when McCain's Michigan state director Al Ribeiro explained McCain's abrupt cessation of campaigning in Michigan.
He said: "The campaign must decide where it can best utilize its limited resources with the goal of winning nationally."
It appears voters in 36 of the 50 states never mattered, even before the 2008 presidential election began.
Both major political parties have agreed that there will be at most 14 battleground states in 2008.
In 2004, candidates concentrated over two-thirds of their money and campaign visits to just five states.
The winner-take-all rule is not in the US Constitution, but is simply state law.

US political event will be decided by very few
This is nothing new, America’s rich always decide, America’s future, the American dream is a big illusion for the naive and the gullible.
The wealthy wall street bankers, the military industrial complex, the Jews, the Masons, those are the ones that control America, will it take a spoonful of sugar to make people realize that.
Tax breaks for the rich, bail outs, war contracts, illegal wars to increase profits for war related business, what more do you want, WAKE UP.
