PYONGYANG, North Korea - Making a bizarre claim, the North Korean media claimed that the country's leader, Kim Jong Un can control the weather.
According to North Korea's state media, Kim Jong Un controlled the weather when he scaled a sacred mountain.
The dictator is said to have dressed in smart leather shoes and climbed the 2,744m high Mount Paektu.
Pyongyang media stated that the mountain has a special place in Korean folklore and has been used by the Kim family for generations in propaganda.
The state media claimed that it was snowing because the mountain wanted to give a "warm welcome" to Kim Jong Un.
According to the report, Mount Paektu wanted to "show joy at the appearance of the peerlessly illustrious commander who controls the nature."
A state media release further stated, "When Kim Jong Un ascended to the top of it, going through thick snow, it showed fine weather unprecedented in the blizzard of December winter, exposing its majestic figure."
The official North Korean newspaper Rodong Sinmum further added that Kim Jong Un had "often climbed" Mount Paektu but this was the first time in mid-winter.
It added, "His eyes reflected the strong beams of the gifted great person seeing in the majestic spirit of Mount Paektu the appearance of a powerful socialist nation which dynamically advances full of vigour without vacillation at any raving dirty wind on the planet."
Mount Paektu is an active volcano on the border between North Korea and China and both North and South Koreans claim the mountain and lake as their countries' spiritual home.
