BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb. 14 (PIA) - Governor Carlos Padilla has called on a multi-sectoral cooperation and support to the province to prevent the entry of the COVID-19, formerly known as Novel Corona Virus or NCoV.
Padilla recently signed the Executive Order creating the NCov Task Force in the province, an inter-agency body designed to execute measures on the prevention of the NCoV in Nueva Vizcaya.
It also created an Information Education and Communication (IEC) component to raise awareness on the prevention of the NCoV among Novo Vizcayanos.
"This calls for an inter-agency effort and collaboration to guard our province on the possible entry of the dreaded virus. Let us practice proper hygiene and sanitation to ensure our safety from NCoV infection," he said.
The NCoV Task Force, Padilla said will craft and formulate precautionary measures and contingency plans to address public issues and concerns when the NCoV enters the province.
The NCoV task force will be chaired by Dr.Edwin Galapon, Provincial Health Officer(PHO) and Dr. Napoleon Obana, Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center(R2TMC) chief as the Vice Chair.
Padilla also ordered the task force's IEC team to conduct activities that will raise proper awareness on the NCoV inorder to prevent panic because of fake news.
He said the creation of NCoV Task Force among LGUs is one of the concerns raised by the Department of Health(DOH) during their recent meeting with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
"In fact, health secretary Francisco Duque was telling us not to encourage our constituents to wear surgical masks because it is illogical but we have formed this task force for any eventualities," Padilla said.# Benjamin Moses M. Ebreo/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya
