BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

LONDON -- Another 20,890 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 894,690, according to official figures released Monday.

The coronavirus-related deaths in Britain rose by 102 to 44,998, the data showed.

JERUSALEM -- Israel's health ministry reported 905 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total number in the country to 310,851.

The death toll rose to 2,453 after 56 new fatalities were added, while the number of patients in serious condition decreased from 510 to 496, out of 877 patients hospitalized.

COPENHAGEN -- Denmark saw 1,056 new daily infections, the highest daily count ever, according to the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) on Monday.

"It is a very high number that makes an impression," said Kaare Molbak, executive vice president of the SSI, told a press conference here on Monday.

PARIS -- The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in France increased by 26,771 on Monday as the government was considering tightening restrictions to slow the accelerating spread of COVID-19.

Monday's count took France's total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 1,165,278. The daily tally was lower than the record 52,010 registered a day before as fewer people test on Sundays.

ANKARA -- Turkey reported 2,198 new COVID-19 patients on Monday, increasing the total diagnosed patients to 363,999.

Meanwhile, 75 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,874, the Turkish Health Ministry announced.
