COPENHAGEN, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Nine people have been arrested in a satellite town of the Danish capital Copenhagen in connection with 325 kilos of cocaine, according to Danish police on Tuesday.
The huge cargo of cocaine was hidden in a shipping container from Brazil, being sent to Hedehusene, 30 km west of Copenhagen.
Reacting to a tip from customs officials in Bremerhaven, Germany, Danish police tracked the illicit cargo to Copenhagen free port, discreetly seized the cocaine, and then watched the container after it reached its final destination, according to the special investigation team with Copenhagen Police in a press release.
The first arrests on Monday night were made as several individuals tried to gain illegal access into the container.
According to the press release, the company that received the container had no knowledge that it was being used as a "mule" to smuggle cocaine into Denmark.
