The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has urgently called on Israel to immediately reverse its mass evacuation orders in Lebanon, warning that continued enforcement risks triggering a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe.

As of Friday, March 6, the agency estimates that at least 300,000 people have been displaced in a matter of days following Israel's intensified airstrikes and sweeping evacuation directives issued across South Lebanon, Beirut's southern suburbs, and other parts of the country.

NRC reports that more than 95,000 displaced individuals are currently sheltering in collective sites.

The organization expressed grave concern that Israel's orders requiring civilians to leave large areas violate international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits the forcible transfer or displacement of civilian populations except under narrowly defined circumstances.

In response, NRC has rapidly scaled up its emergency operations inside Lebanon, distributing essential relief items including mattresses, pillows, blankets and hygiene kits to help meet the acute and growing needs of those affected.
