PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said that lifting restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia through Azerbaijan will contribute to increased mutual trade among member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

He made the remarks at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held in Shymkent, according to Radar Armenia.

Grigoryan noted that diversification of transport and logistics infrastructure in the South Caucasus has become an important driver of foreign trade development.

"In this context, a particularly significant development for us is the recent removal of transport restrictions on goods passing through Azerbaijan to Armenia, which opens opportunities to fully unlock the region's potential and contributes to the growth of mutual trade," he said.

At the same time, he emphasized that amid economic fluctuations and changes in global trade, continuous analysis of the EAEU's external economic activity remains important. According to the deputy prime minister, systematic monitoring makes it possible not only to quickly identify emerging imbalances but also to develop effective mechanisms to protect the internal market and local producers.

In this context, he highlighted the importance of effective cooperation between the customs services of EAEU member states and the Eurasian Economic Commission in monitoring the declaration of taxable goods, which directly affects customs valuation and state budget revenues.

"At the same time, it is important that the harmonization of approaches and rules for applying national risk management systems takes into account the sovereign interests of EAEU member states," he added.

Grigoryan also stressed the importance of improving cooperation mechanisms for consumer protection established under the joint action program of EAEU member countries. According to him, the implementation of the program has become an important tool for building trust between consumers and businesses, particularly in the context of rapidly developing e-commerce, while also contributing to market transparency, increased consumer awareness, and equal conditions for economic actors.

On March 26, it was reported that another shipment - 350 tons of Russian grain - was delivered to Armenia via Azerbaijan.
